About

I am a visual storyteller and researcher based in Leiden, the Netherlands, with a background in Cultural Anthropology (BA) and Sociology (MA). I use the tools of both disciplines, e.g. ethnography, fieldwork, critical media analysis, to understand how people communicate, construct identity, and make meaning.

My work sits at the intersection of research and visual communication. I have documented political protests, produced ethnographic film, and in 2021 directed a short documentary exploring non-binary identity and self-expression through makeup, examining how personal aesthetics function as a form of communication.

Alongside my research practice, I create illustration and graphic work that blends digital and physical media. My visual style, drawing on cartoon, graphic design, and animation, is shaped by the same questions that drive my academic work: how images communicate, and what they say that words cannot.
